By Jeff Kelly | Founder, The 817 Journal
Every community has a story. Actually, it has thousands of them.
Stories about the people who live here, the businesses that make our communities special, the neighborhoods we call home, and the changes happening right in our own backyards.
That’s what The 817 Journal is all about.
I’m Jeff Kelly, a local Realtor who’s spent the past 17 years helping people buy and sell homes throughout the Fort Worth area. Along the way, I’ve learned something important: real estate is about a whole lot more than houses.
It’s about people. It’s about communities. And it’s about the places we choose to call home.
Why I Started The 817 Journal
I’ve wanted a place to share more than just homes for sale and market statistics.
Don’t get me wrong. I love real estate. I enjoy digging into market trends, understanding what drives home values, and helping people make smart decisions about one of their largest investments.
But I also love discovering a great local restaurant, meeting a small business owner who’s pouring everything into a dream, and watching our communities grow and change.
And sometimes, I just have something on my mind that I think is worth sharing.
So I decided to create a place for all of it.
What You’ll Find Here
Real Estate Without the Sales Pitch
Practical information about buying, selling, investing, and understanding our local housing market. I’ll share what I’m seeing firsthand, explain what’s happening, and occasionally challenge some of the conventional wisdom.
Local Businesses & Community Stories
There are some incredible people doing incredible things right here in our area. I want to introduce you to them.
Life in the 817
From Burleson and Joshua to Fort Worth and the surrounding communities, we’ll explore the places, events, neighborhoods, and people that make this part of Texas special.
A Few Personal Observations
After 17 years in real estate, I’ve collected a few stories, learned some lessons, and developed a few opinions. Some might be useful. Some might make you laugh. And occasionally, you might disagree with me.
That’s perfectly fine, too.
What This Isn’t
This isn’t going to be a never-ending stream of advertisements asking you to buy or sell a house.
There are plenty of those already.
My goal is to make The 817 Journal something worth reading, whether you’re thinking about moving next month, staying in your home for the next 20 years, or just interested in what’s happening around town.
Let’s Get Started
I’m starting this with a pretty simple idea: share useful information, tell interesting stories, and celebrate the communities that make the 817 a great place to live.
I’ll be adding articles regularly, and I hope you’ll come along for the ride.
If you enjoy what you read, feel free to subscribe, share an article with a friend, or send me an idea for something you’d like to see covered.
And if you know a local business or someone with a great story, I’d love to hear about them.
Thanks for stopping by.
